On 1 August 2018, following the results of the open competition, Vitalii Bryk was appointed Director of Central Vault of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The Selection Commission consisting of the NBU Board members has considered 9 nominees. The competition was announced upon appointment of Mykola Kalenskyi, former Director of the Central Vault, to the NBU Council in April 2018.
Mr Bryk has an extensive financial and managerial experience. He started his career in the banking sector in 1996 at Zdolbuniv Branch, Rivne Directorate, of the Joint Stock Agricultural and Industrial Bank Ukraina at position of Head of Financial Safety Department. Since 1999, he is employed within the NBU. He held position of Leading Economist of the Cash Circulation and Operations Division of the NBU, Rivne Oblast; later he was appointed Head of the Sector. Further, he took assignment to manage the Division. Since 2005, he was appointed Deputy Head of the NBU Office in Rivne Oblast; and since 2015, he held position of Head of the NBU Office in Rivne Oblast. Since 2016, he was a representative for the National Bank of Ukraine in the Rivne Oblast.
Mr Bryk’s professional activity within the NBU is directly associated with cash circulation, operations, and transportation of valuables.
Mr Bryk attained a degree in Economics and Utilization of Motor Vehicles from the National Transport University in 1992, a degree in Banking from the Institute of Bankers of Ukraina Bank in 1998, and a degree in Banking from the Banking Institute of the Banking University of the NBU in Lviv in 2007.

The NBU Central Vault functions are to:
- ensure safekeeping of valuables
- administer issue and cash transactions
- administer receiving, safekeeping, processing and payment of banknotes, coins, and other valuables, keeping records of reserve stock of domestic currency banknotes and coins and other valuables
- organize transportation of cash and other valuables between the vault, divisions (offices) for cash circulation of the Cash Circulation Department and Ukrainian banks.
