Regulatory capital of the banking system increased by UAH 4.8 billion in August 2016. It was due to increasing Tier I capital by UAH 5.9 billion UAH that was influenced by growth of registered and paid in authorized capital of banks by UAH 4.7 billion. Change of regulatory capital brought to larger value of Regulatory Capital Adequacy Ratio (N2), which grew in August from 13.84% to 13.9%.
We recall that according to top-20 banks diagnostic study held by the NBU in 2015, banking institutions increased capital by UAH 78 billion (as of 1 September 2016). It should be noted that all top-20 banks, which underwent diagnostics in 2015, have approved plans of capital increase and they are obliged to implement all measures provided by these plans. In particular, all top-20 banks are obliged to achieve capital adequacy ratio of 5% and higher by the end of September 2016.
Value of economic ratios of Ukrainian banking system also prove worse situation with meeting instant liquidity ratio (N4) by banks in August by 8% - from 70.05% to 62.01%. It was due to reduction of balances on the NBU certificates of deposit by UAH 23.7 billion for this period. Released funds were directed at support of liquidity with regard to quarterly payment of taxes by clients-legal entities in August.
