NBU Leadership Meets with Ambassadors of Netherlands, Estonia, and Slovenia

On 7 April, NBU Deputy Governors Sergiy Nikolaychuk and Yuriy Heletiy met with Jennas de Mol, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kaimo Kuusk, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia, and Tomaž Mentsin, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia.

“We are grateful to your countries for taking a tough line on russia's war of aggression in Ukraine, for giving us diplomatic support, and for providing us with military and humanitarian assistance,” said Yuriy Heletiy at the beginning of the meeting.

The parties paid special attention to the NBU’s experience in ensuring the stable operation of the Ukrainian banking system under martial law and to Ukraine’s needs during and after the war. International partners praised the Ukrainian central bank for taking effective and timely action.

The parties also discussed ways to put more pressure on the aggressor. The diplomats assured the NBU leadership that their countries fully support Ukraine in its resistance against the invaders. In addition, the Ambassadors suggested ramping up efforts to inform the public in their countries about the charitable accounts opened by the NBU. They noted that both the general public and state institutions of the Netherlands, Estonia, and Slovenia are fully committed to help Ukraine.

“When the war is over, we will need significant assistance in rebuilding our country. At the same time, we need to create “safeguards” that will reduce the risk of a similar situation arising in the future. Ukraine is counting on international support,” said NBU Deputy Governor Sergiy Nikolaychuk.
