Best 2020 Commemorative Coins: Eneida set and Frontline

Winners of the Best Ukrainian Coin of the Year Competition for 2020 have been decided.

The best commemorative coins for 2020 were selected in two categories, by secret ballot, by a commission comprised of experts from the NBU, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and national museums, as well as experts in visual arts and numismatics.

In the Best Coin of the Year category, the set of commemorative coins The Eneida won. This is a set of nine silver coins, each with a face value of 10 hryvnias.  The designers of these winning coins are Volodymyr Taran, Oleksandr Kharuk, and Serhii Kharuk. Engravers: Anatolii Demianenko, Roman Chaikovskyi, Volodymyr Atamanchuk. Vitalii Andriianov is the author of the computer-aided design. 

The Best Explored Theme award went to the commemorative coin The Frontline (a 5-hryvnia nickel silver coin). The designers are Nikita Titov (concept creator), Sviatoslav Ivanenko. Engraver: Sviatoslav Ivanenko. Computer-aided design by Yurii Lukianov.

As a reminder, the Best Ukrainian Coin of the Year Competition has been held annually since 2005 and consists of two stages. This year, the first stage of the competition took place between 1 February and 5 April. More than three thousand people took part in the competition.

The winners of the Best Ukrainian Coin of the Year Competition for 2019 are as follows:

  • The Best Coin of the Year award was given to The Pectoral (a set of four 10-hryvnia silver coins). These coins were designed by Nataliia Fandikova. Engravers are Anatolii Demianenko and Volodymyr Demianenko. Vitalii Andriianov is the author of the computer-aided design. 
  • The Best Explored Theme award went to the coin The Issuing of the Tomos on the Autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (a 5-hryvnia nickel silver coin). Designers are Volodymyr Taran, Oleksandr Kharuk, and Serhii Kharuk. Engravers are Sviatoslav Ivanenko and Volodymyr Demianenko.
