Mykola Kalenskyi Appointed to the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed Decree No. 102/2018 dated 17 April 2018 on the appointment of Mykola Kalenskyi to the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (the NBU) for five years in office. Thus, the President appointed three NBU Council members out of four members under his quota.

Mykola Kalenskyi fully meets statutory requirements for the position of the member of the NBU Council. Mr Kalenskyi is duly certified and has over forty years of experience in the financial sector and business administration.

Mykola Kalenskyi joined the NBU team in 2011, first he was First Deputy Head of the NBU Main Office for Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast (2011 – 2014), later he took on the position of Head of the NBU Main Office for Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast (2014 - 2016).

Since April 2016 and until now, Mykola Kalenskyi was Director of the Central Vault of the NBU. He has successfully managed acceptance and distribution of banknotes and coins from and to regional offices of the regulator and banks, recordkeeping and storing domestic currency banknotes and coins, as well as transportation of cash and other valuables within the central bank system.

Before joining the NBU, Mykola Kalenskyi was Head of the Control and Auditing Department in Zhytomyr oblast, Deputy Finance Minister - Head of the Control and Audit Administration of Ukraine. Previously, he also worked as State Secretary for the Ministry of Finance, Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine and First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Office.

In 1980 he graduated from the Ternopil National Economic University with a major in Finance and Credit. He holds a PhD in Economics and the award of Honored Economist of Ukraine.
