The NBU will improve conditions for the use of electronic signatures and electronic seals by Ukrainian banks.
Respective provisions are set out in the amended Regulation On the Electronic Signature in the Banking System of Ukraine [i](hereinafter – the Draft Regulation)
This document was developed in connection with the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine On Electronic Trust Services on 7 November 2018.
Its purpose is to improve the conditions for the use of electronic signature and electronic seal in the banking system of Ukraine when creating, processing, and storing electronic documents related to the transactions.
In particular, the Draft Regulation provides for:
- definition of the types of electronic signature and electronic seal used in the banking system of Ukraine
- establishment of requirements for the use of each type of electronic signature and electronic seal
- establishment of requirements for compiling and storing electronic documents in the banking system.
Approval of this document will:
- reduce the cost of banking products and, as a result, reduce the cost of services for banks’ customers
- improve the quality and speed of customer service.
On a side note, the use of paperless technologies in the provision of banking services facilitates a significant reduction in unproductive costs and increases the efficiency of banking operations and the quality of customer service.
