NBU and KSE organize an Economic conference for students and young researchers

The National Bank of Ukraine and Kyiv School of Economics invite students and young researchers to participate in the scientific conference Banking Sector and Monetary Policy: Future Prospects to be held in Kyiv on 2 November 2018.

We invite university students and young researchers (under 35) who are interested in micro- and macroeconomic aspects of banking sector and monetary policy. The topics for papers may include (but are not limited to):

  • the macroeconomic issues of monetary policy
  • the problem of the monetary policy instruments choice
  • macro- and microeconomic foundations of the monetary sector of economy
  • banking sector regulation
  • bank lending and economic growth
  • other topics in economics and finance.

All interested researchers are invited to submit research papers to [email protected], indicating the title of the study, name of authors (last name, first name, university, year, major (for students) or university/organization, department, job position (for researchers), and contact details (email and phone number).

Deadline for submission of papers is 8 October 2018.

By 22 October 2018 all applicants will be informed about the Selection Committee decision. Authors of the best papers will be invited to present their research at the conference on 2 November 2018.

At the end of the conference the commission of the NBU and the KSE experts will announce the winners in two categories – among students and young researchers – who will receive the following:

The working languages of the conference are English and Ukrainian (simultaneous interpretation will not be provided). We encourage participants to submit and present their papers in English, however, this is not required. The language of the presentation will have no effect on the competition results.

Paper requirements

The submitted paper should be original and unpublished earlier. The paper should focus on one aspect and analyze it thoroughly instead of exploring the whole banking sector or the monetary policy issues in general.

Particularly, papers that create new knowledge through data analysis are regarded to be more valuable compared to those that present abstract theoretical concepts. Papers that summarize the existing knowledge on a specific topic are also welcome as long as such summary leads to clear policy advice relevant to the banking sector and the monetary policy in Ukraine.

When writing a paper, please follow the requirements applicable to articles for the Visnyk of the NBU. Useful information for writing research is available at the link.

Contact information

For any further information concerning the conference please contact conference coordinators at [email protected].
