The NBU and KSE Organize an Economic Conference for Students and Young Researchers

The National Bank of Ukraine and Kyiv School of Economics invite students and young researchers to take part in the scientific conference Banking Sector and Monetary Policy: Future Prospects to be held in Kyiv on 21 April 2017.

We invite university students and young researchers (under 30) who are interested in micro- and macroeconomic aspects of the banking sector and monetary policy. The topics for papers may include (but are not limited to):

  • the macroeconomic aspects of monetary policy;
  • the problem of choosing monetary policy instruments;
  • macro- and microeconomic study of the monetary sector of the economy;
  • effective regulation of the banking sector;
  • bank lending and economic development; and
  • other issues.

The paper can be submitted at this link. The deadline for submission of papers is 26 March 2017.

All candidates will be informed on the selection results before 11 April 2017. Authors of the selected papers will be invited to present their research at the conference on 21 April 2017.

The Selection Committee of NBU experts and KSE faculty members will select papers to be presented at the conference. At the end of the conference, The Best Paper Award winners in two categories will be announced (among students and young researchers). The winners will get:

prizes from the National Bank of Ukraine and Kyiv School of Economics;

  • an invitation to participate in the NBU research conference Role of the Central Bank in Ensuring the Economic Growth to be held on 18-19 May 2017; and
  • an offer to publish the research at VoxUkraine.

The working languages of the conference are English and Ukrainian (simultaneous interpretation will not be provided). Papers may be submitted in either of the above languages. Papers in English are especially encouraged. However, presentation in English is not obligatory. The language of the presentation will have no effect on the competition results.

Paper requirements

The submitted paper should be original and previously unpublished. The paper should focus on one aspect and thoroughly analyze it instead of exploring the whole banking sector or monetary policy issues in general.

Particularly, papers that create new knowledge through data analysis will get special attention compared to those that present abstract theoretical concepts. Papers that summarize the existing knowledge on a specific topic are also welcome as long as such summary leads to clear policy advice relevant to the banking sector and monetary policy in Ukraine.

The detailed paper requirements are available at this link.
