Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Ms Valeria Gontareva and Ms Natalia Samoilova, Audit Partner in Deloitte Ukraine, have signed the central bank’s 2016 Consolidated Financial Statements.
The independent auditor who audited the Consolidated Financial Statements has issued a positive opinion, providing assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatements.
Ms Samoilova underlined that the consolidated financial statements of the National Bank of Ukraine present fairly, in all material respects, the consolidated financial position of the regulator as at 31 December 2016, and its consolidated financial performance and cash flows for the year then ended in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
The audit firm Deloitte commended fruitful and well-coordinated cooperation with the central bank, notably its Audit Committee.
Having thanked the audit firm for expressing a professional audit opinion, Ms Valeria Gontareva emphasized that the NBU would remain committed to a high level of transparency.
The NBU compiles the annual financial statements in compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards.
Pursuant to Article 9 of the Law of Ukraine On the National Bank of Ukraine and Article 14 of the Law of Ukraine On Accounting and Financial Reporting in Ukraine, the NBU shall publish the annual financial statements together with the audit opinion before 30 April in the year after the reporting year.
The Consolidated Financial Statements are an integral part of the Annual Report of the National Bank of Ukraine that is subject to approval by the NBU Board and the NBU Council.
Deloitte audits the financial statements of more than twenty central banks across the world. The NBU selected this independent auditor through a tender process to undertake the audit. Deloitte Ukraine has audited the NBU’s financial statements for the third year in a row.
