Oleksandr Petryk Appointed to the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed Decree No. 140/2018 dated 21 May 2018 on the appointment of Oleksandr Petryk, Professor of the Banking Department at the Banking University, to the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (the NBU) for four years in office. Thus, the President has appointed all four NBU Council members under his quota.

Oleksandr Petryk fully meets statutory requirements for the position of the member of the NBU Council. Mr Petryk is duly certified and has many years of experience in the banking sector, research, and business administration.

From 2013 to 2017 he served as the Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund for Ukraine with the IMF Headquarters in Washington D.C. (USA).

From 1991 to 2013 while working at the NBU Oleksandr Petryk held different positions such as Head of Sector, Head of the Forecasting and Advanced Studies Division, Deputy Director of the Economic Department, Director of the Economic Research Department, Director of the Economic Analysis, Research and Forecasting Department, Deputy Director of the General Department – Director of the Department for Economic Analysis and Forecasting of the General Economic Department, Director of the General Economic Department – member of the NBU Board.

Before the NBU, he was a researcher at the Kyiv Research Institute of Hydraulic Devices of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. In 1984, OleksandrPetryk earned his Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics, and in 2009 – Grand Ph.D in Economics.

In 1976, he graduated from the Donetsk National University with a major in Applied Mathematics, and in 2009 completed the Banking course at the Lviv Banking Institute of the Banking University. Oleksandr Petryk is a Professor and an Honored Economist of Ukraine. He is fluent in English.
