On 4 April 2016, Mr Mykola Kalenskyi was appointed Director of the Central Vault of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The functions of the NBU Central Vault include accepting from and dispensing banknotes and coins to the regulator’s regional subdivisions and banks, handling, accounting, and ensuring proper storage of the banknotes and coins, as well as the transportation of cash and other valuables within the NBU.
Mr Kalenskyi has an extensive managerial experience. He has over forty years of experience and has held various executive positions in the financial industry.
Since 2011 up until now, he has been at the working at the National Bank of Ukraine, starting as First Deputy Head of the NBU Main Office for Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast (2011 – 2014) and moving to Head of the NBU Main Office for Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast (2014 – 2016).
Before joining the NBU, Mr Kalenskyi served as Head of the Control and Auditing Department in Zhytomyr oblast, and as Deputy Finance Minister. Previously, he worked as Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine and as First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Office.
In 1980 graduated from the Ternopil National Economic University, major in Finance and Credit. Mr Kalenskyi holds a PhD in Economics. Merited Economist of Ukraine.

The NBU has undergone a reshuffle of senior staff as of part of the Ukrainian central bank’s transformation project, which has led, in particular, to the consolidation of the regulator's balance sheet.
Following the restructuring of the NBU’s organizational structures, all the regulator’s regional offices have been wound up. However, NBU representatives operate in each region, except Kyiv oblast where the NBU Head Office is located.
