For the first time ever, the National Bank of Ukraine received an international award for organizing an educational campaign to increase financial awareness, becoming a finalist in the Global Money Week Award category of the Global Inclusion Awards in Europe and  Central Asia.

The Global Inclusion Awards is organized by Child&Youth Finance International (CYFI), a non-governmental organization,  the German G20 Presidency, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The case presented by the NBU was praised at the Global Inclusion Awards Ceremony, which was held on 3 May 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

As CYFI emphasized, by earning a place among the finalists, Ukraine demonstrates the significance attached to the promotion of financial awareness among children and the youth, and, more importantly,  coordination of events arranged as part of Global Money Week and the necessity of pooling efforts of all institutions to achieve this goal.

The NBU thanked the Financial Sector Transformation Project run by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Banking University, the Ukrainian crisis media-center, the Deposit Guarantee Fund,  the Independed Association of Ukrainian Banks for assistance and cooperation in implementing this project. The NBU launches preparations for Global Money Week 2018.

This year the central bank joined the celebrations for Global Money Week, an international educational initiative targeting children and youth. This global event is held annually in Ukraine and 130 countries around the world.

From 28 March through 31 March 2017, the NBU, in cooperation with USAID, organized a series of events, including lectures on financial awareness and conducted an educational campaign entitled “Hryvnia is Our Symbol!”

28,000 children and youth participated in the educational events held  as part of Global Money Week. The educational campaign covered over 100,000 Ukrainian citizens.
