The last day that Ukrainians in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Latvia can exchange cash hryvnias for euros is 9 December 2022.
Programs to exchange cash hryvnias for euros in these countries were launched on the basis of relevant agreements between the NBU and De Nederlandsche Bank, the National Bank of Belgium, and Latvijas Banka.
Through these programs, Ukrainians who left Ukraine as they fled the war and are staying abroad have been able to meet their daily needs by exchanging their cash hryvnias for euros in the designated banks and financial institutions of these host countries.
The exchange programs are about to be terminated, as such transactions have been declining in amount and number compared to when they first occurred.
Since the agreements took effect, Ukrainians have exchanged a total of almost UAH 29.7 million for euros in the Netherlands, almost UAH 10.0 million in Belgium, and UAH 3.0 million in Latvia, as of 6 December 2022.
The exchange programs have already ended in Poland (9 September 2022), Germany (13 November 2022), Sweden (13 November 2022), Switzerland (25 November 2022), Lithuania (5 December 2022), and Malta (7 December 2022).
