At the meeting on 7 August 2020, the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU Council) appointed Oleksii Shaban Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

His mandate is the development and regulation of payment and settlement systems, and the management of the cash circulation system.

Oleksii Shaban worked in Ukraine’s banking system for more than 27 years. Since February 2020, Oleksii Shaban was the Director of NBU Payment Systems and Innovative Development Department.

Before working for the NBU, Oleksii Shaban worked at PrivatBank for over 24 years. In 2018, he was appointed to serve on PrivatBank’s Board as a member responsible for retail business. Since then and until becoming a part of the NBU, Oleksii Shaban was in charge of retail business, and he actively introduced new card and payment products, including through remote channels.

In 1995, Oleksii Shaban graduated from the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, with a major in Management of Enterprises.
