The Second Annual Research Conference on the “Role of the Central Bank in Economic Development” to Take Place on 18-19 May

The National Bank of Ukraine, jointly with Narodowy Bank Polski, and supported by the Government of Canada and the Kyiv School of Economics, is to hold an annual research conference on the "Role of the Central Bank in Economic Development" on 18-19 May 2017.

Representatives of central banks, international financial organizations, as well as leading scholars from world-renowned universities will participate in the conference. The participants will discuss and debate pressing issues faced by central banks, in particular responses to economic challenges, the role of the state in supporting economic growth, the mandate of central banks and challenges in ensuring price stability.

John B. Taylor, Professor of Economics at Stanford University and the author of the well-known "Taylor rule" used by most central banks of advanced and emerging economies when making interest rate decisions will deliver a keynote speech.

Apart from him, the conference speakers will include Satu Kahkonen (World Bank), Gérard Roland and Yuriy Gorodnichenko (University of California, Berkeley), Marcin Kolasa (Narodowy Bank Polski), Kerstin af Jochnick (Sveriges Riksbank), Matteo Millone (VU University Amsterdam), David Vavra (OGResearch) and other renowned researchers and practitioners.

In addition, as part of the conference, a series of lectures will be given by speakers at the leading Ukrainian universities. In particular, speeches will be delivered by Jerzy Osiatyński (Polish Monetary Policy Council) at the Kyiv National Economic University and Gérard Roland at the Kyiv Institute of International Relations. Also, a series of lectures will be given as part of Ukraine Economy Week.

The working language of the conference is English (simultaneous translation into Ukrainian will be provided).
