NBU’s Information Systems Work in Normal Mode

Over the past few days, the NBU’s information systems have been hit by attempted external cyber attacks by unidentified individuals from different countries of the world. Specifically, on the night between 13 and 14 January 2022, during a massive attack on government websites, the NBU, among others, detected attempted attacks on its official website and managed to respond to them.

All NBU’s information systems worked and continue to work in a usual mode, in particular, the System of Electronic Payments, which is used by banks, the official website, and the NBU’s internal computer network.

Protection of the NBU and the banking infrastructure against fraud in cyber space is properly organized: by implementing modern cybersecurity protection technologies, effective use of cybersecurity protection systems and mechanisms for exchanging information about cyber attacks and cyber incidents between the NBU’s Cybersecurity Center and other public authorities, banks, financial institutions, etc.

In the light of the cyber attack on a number of government websites, the NBU calls on banks and other financial sector participants for enhancing security measures to respond to possible cyber attacks.

We kindly remind you that in addition to the website, the NBU’s official information is available on its social media pages.
