On 24 February 2022, the National Bank of Ukraine transferred a portion of its distributable profit in the amount of UAH 19 billion to the State Budget of Ukraine to finance operation of the state under martial law.
“The NBU urgently transferred portion of its 2021 distributable profit to the State Budget of Ukraine. It amounts to UAH 19 billion. This is a measure that our country, our Armed Forces, and every Ukrainian need,” commented NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko.
As previously reported, the NBU has opened a special multi-currency account to raise funds for the Ukrainian military after the authorities imposed martial law in Ukraine in response to Russia’s armed aggression and the threat to Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.

The decision to transfer a portion of the NBU’s 2021 distributable profit to the State Budget of Ukraine in 2022 was approved by the NBU Board on 24 February 2022 in line with Articles 5, 51, 7, 15, and 56 of the Law of Ukraine On the National Bank of Ukraine, Law of Ukraine No. 2102-IX On Approval of the Presidential Decree On Introducing Martial Law in Ukraine, Presidential Decree No. 64/2022 On Introducing Martial Law in Ukraine dated 24 February 2022, to implement Presidential Decree No. 67/2022 On Urgent Measures to Finance Operation of the State under Martial Law dated 24 February 2022.
