The National Bank of Ukraine welcomes the decision of the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard to suspend operations in the payment market of the Russian Federation.
"We are sincerely grateful to the international companies Visa and Mastercard for their decisions. The unprecedented attack of the aggressor country on peaceful Ukraine requires a decisive and coordinated response from international business and the world. We thank Visa and Mastercard for their moral position and support, as well as their commitment to democratic values. Only united, we will have a victory", – said NBU Deputy Governor Oleksii Shaban.
According to Visa and Mastercard, they are completely suspending work in Russia.
All Visa and MasterCard cards issued by Russian banks will no longer be serviced in the network of these payment systems. Also, cards issued by foreign banks outside the Russian Federation will no longer work in the retail network and ATMs in the Russian Federation.
Earlier the NBU called on the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard to stop servicing payment cards issued by the banks based in the Russian Federation.
