IMF Executive Board to Consider Allocating Additional Funds to Ukraine

On 9 March, the IMF Executive Board will meet to discuss an allocation of additional financing for Ukraine under the emergency assistance program Rapid Financing Instrument. The maximum amount Ukraine can obtain under the program is 50% of the quota for IMF member countries. That means Ukraine will receive approximately USD 1.4 billion (about SDR 1 billion).

As previously reported, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko as IMF governor for Ukraine, and Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergiy Marchenko in the end of February applied to the IMF for additional funding for Ukraine under the Rapid Financing Instrument.

“The IMF has quickly responded to our request. We are counting on the IMF assistance now more than ever. I am grateful to all of our international partners for the support they have already provided. It is extremely important for us,” said the NBU Governor.
