Call for Papers for Sixth Conference for Students and Young Researchers

Call for papers

The NBU and Kyiv School of Economics are inviting students and young researchers to participate in the Sixth Research Conference, which will take place on 19 May 2023. By tradition, the topic of the conference is Banking Sector and Monetary Policy: Future Prospects. This conference will be held remotely.

The discussion will focus on the banking sector’s operation, the pursuit of monetary policy, and efforts to ensure financial stability amid a full-scale war.

Professor Yuriy Gorodnichenko (University of California, Berkeley) will be an honorary speaker at the conference. He will deliver the lecture Current Issues of Economic Research.

We are inviting students and young researchers to submit their papers on issues related to the general topic of the conference.

The topics may include (but are not limited to):

  • macroeconomic aspects of monetary policy in wartime
  • effective regulation of the banking sector and ensuring financial stability in wartime
  • bank lending and post-war economic reconstruction
  • other topics in economics and finance.

How participants and winners will benefit from the conference

Conference participants will receive the reviews of submitted papers, with advice on how to improve them. The best papers will be recommended for publication in the journal Visnyk of the National Bank of Ukraine and handed over for peer reviews (in line with the journal’s publishing policy). If a paper receives a positive peer review, the NBU will defray all the costs, including the editing, translation, and publication of the article.

The winners will receive certificates that will allow them to opt for a course within the master’s programs in economics at Kyiv School of Economics.

Paper requirements

The submitted paper should be original and previously unpublished. The paper should focus on one aspect and analyze it thoroughly.

Especially welcome are papers that analyze data or summarize the existing knowledge on a specific topic and provide clear and relevant policy advice. When writing a paper, please follow the requirements.
