NBU Updates Currency Lists for Official Hryvnia Exchange Rates

On 28 April 2022, the NBU updated the lists of currencies for official hryvnia exchange rates. In particular:

  • the Dominican peso and the new Taiwan dollar were added to the list of foreign currencies against which the NBU sets the official hryvnia exchange rate on a monthly basis
  • the frequency of setting the official hryvnia exchange rate against the Azerbaijani manat was changed from monthly to daily while for the Saudi riyal it was changed from daily to monthly.

The lists are updated due to the changes in volumes of goods turnover of Ukraine with respective countries.

The NBU made no other updates to the lists of currencies and investment metals for official hryvnia exchange rates.

Due to the change of frequency of setting the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against the Azerbaijani manat and the Saudi riyal, the NBU established the following specifics of setting the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against said currencies:

  • the official hryvnia exchange rate against the Azerbaijani manat, which was set by the NBU on 31 March 2022, shall be in effect through 28 April 2022
  • the official hryvnia exchange rate against the Saudi riyal, which was set by the NBU on 27 April 2022, shall be in effect from 28 April 2022 through 30 April 2022.

The update outlined above was approved by NBU Order No. 260 On Approval of Lists of Foreign Currencies and Investment Metals dated 26 April 2022, which came into effect on 28 April 2022.

The specifics of setting the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against foreign currencies are established by NBU Board Decision No. 202 On the Specifics of Setting the Official Exchange Rate of the Hryvnia against Certain Foreign Currencies dated 27 April 2022, which came into effect on 28 April 2022.

For reference
