Get a Coin for Donating to Armed Forces of Ukraine: NBU and PrivatBank Announce a Fundraising Campaign to Celebrate Ukraine's Independence Day

To celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day, the NBU together with PrivatBank have announced a charitable fundraising campaign Get a Coin for Donating to Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Anyone who makes a donation will have a chance to receive one of ten exclusive commemorative coins Oh, the Guelder-Rose in the Meadow (five of them made of silver and the other five made of nickel silver) signed by NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

The commemorative coins Oh, the Guelder-Rose in the Meadow  were among the first coins issued by the NBU since the beginning of the war. They are dedicated to a Ukrainian song, which, after russia’s treacherous attack on Ukraine, is now sung with renewed vigor as a modern symbol of Ukraine’s resistance to the russian military aggression. The NBU will have minted 2,500 silver and 75,000 nickel silver commemorative coins Oh, the Guelder-Rose in the Meadow by the end of 2022. The NBU set a price of UAH 1,872 for the silver coin and UAH 133 for the nickel silver coin.

“Exactly six months have passed since that horrible morning of 24 February, when Ukrainians started fighting fiercely for the independence of their country. We have proven that we are remarkably resilient and united. We have joined into a strong force.  To mark Ukraine’s Independence Day, we offer Ukrainians to unite once again for the sake of helping Ukrainian defenders and get a chance to win an exclusive gift – unique commemorative coins that celebrate a Ukrainian song Oh, the Guelder-Rose in the Meadow, a powerful musical symbol of Ukraine’s struggle for keeping its independence,” said NBU Governor Kyrylo Shevchenko.

“PrivatBank is firmly holding Ukraine’s financial frontline. Together with millions of our customers, we are not only defending the financial frontline and moving the economy forward, but also helping the army, donating to volunteers, and providing equipment for hospitals. During the war, we have expanded the options of convenient digital channels for raising funds. As of today, Ukrainians have donated via PrivatBank more than UAH 2.5 billion to Ukraine’s Armed Forces alone. We are happy to join the NBU’s charitable initiative on the Independence Day of Ukraine and offer unique presents to all Ukrainians who wholeheartedly and strongly support our defenders,” said Chairman of the Board of PrivatBank Gerhard Boesch.

All the raised funds will be transferred to the NBU’s special account opened to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As previously reported, over six months of the war, Ukrainians together with the international community have donated UAH 20.2 billion to this account, and almost UAH 19.6 billion have already been disbursed to cover the needs of the army.
