About UAH 12 Billion Raised for Army and Humanitarian Needs

This is the NBU’s update on the balances in the special account for those wishing to support the Ukrainian Army and the Ministry of Social Policy’s account designated for humanitarian needs.

Special account to support the Army

As of 15 March 2022, an equivalent of almost UAH 11.75 billion has been wired into the special account the NBU opened to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Money has been coming in from people and businesses in Ukraine and from all over the international community (including the U.S., the UK, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Finland, China, France, Canada, Australia, and many other countries).

That includes the equivalent of almost UAH 3.4 billion that has been remitted from abroad in foreign currencies (U.S. Dollars, euros, GB pounds, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yen, Swiss francs, Polish zlotys, Australian dollars).

Now, the special account balance amounts to UAH 67.6 million.

The NBU has already allocated almost UAH 11.7 billion to meet the needs of the military, in particular:

  • a total of UAH 950 million for the National Guard of Ukraine (UAH 450 million on 26 February 2022, UAH 500 million on 6 March 2022)  
  • a total of UAH 1,650 million for the National Police of Ukraine (UAH 150 million on 28 February 2022, UAH 700 million on 3 March 2022, UAH 800 million on 6 March 2022)
  • a total of almost UAH 8,097.6 million for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (UAH 182.3 million on 28 February 2022; UAH 843 million on 1 March 2022; UAH 1,999.3 million on 2 March 2022, UAH 920 million on 4 March 2022; UAH 341.2 million on 5 March 2022; UAH 1,843 million on 7 March 2022; UAH 597,9 million on 8 March 2022; UAH 444.5 million on 9 March 2022; UAH 926.2 million on 11 March 2022)
  • a total of UAH 980.2 million for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (UAH 420 million on 3 March 2022, UAH 300 million on 11 March 2022, UAH 106.2 million on 12 March 2022, UAH 154 million).

Special account for humanitarian needs

As of 15 March 2022, an equivalent of UAH 260.75 million has been transferred to the Ministry of Social Policy’s designated account the NBU opened for humanitarian aid purposes.

Specifically, the equivalent of over UAH 128 million in donations has come into this account from outside Ukraine in foreign currencies (U.S. dollars, euros, GB pounds).

The Ministry of Social Policy now has UAH 260.75 million in this account.

The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is both the recipient and administrator of the funds credited to the account opened by the NBU for humanitarian aid from Ukraine and abroad.
