In 2025, Over UAH 88 Billion Transferred for Needs of Defense from Special Account Opened by NBU

In December 2025, an equivalent of nearly UAH 20 billion was received in the special account the NBU opened on 24 February 2022 to support the defense forces of Ukraine. Overall, an equivalent of nearly UAH 97 billion was received over the year (to compare with nearly UAH 16 billion in 2024).

In total, nearly UAH 146.8 billion has been credited to the special account since russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The money has been delivered by individuals and businesses of Ukraine and from all over the international community (including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, France, Canada, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Lithuania, and many other countries).

That includes an equivalent of almost UAH 125 billion that was remitted from abroad in foreign currencies (U.S. dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yens, Swiss francs, Polish zlotys, and Australian dollars).

As of 1 January 2026, the special account balance amounted to over UAH 24.7 billion. 

In 2025, the NBU has allocated over UAH 88 billion to meet defense needs (over UAH 5.9 billion in 2024). Overall, since the full-scale russia’s invasion, the NBU has allocated more than UAH 122.6 billion (over UAH 26 million in December 2025) to meet the needs of the defense. Specifically:

  • over UAH 1,649 million for the National Guard of Ukraine
  • UAH 1,650 million for the National Police of Ukraine
  • over UAH 36,666 million for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (UAH 3.8 million of previously unused funds were returned on 28 December 2025)
  • UAH 999.5 million for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine
  • over UAH 8,179 million for the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine (UAH 7 of previously unused funds were returned on 30 December 2025)
  • over UAH 156.2 million for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine
  • over UAH 40 million for the NSDC of Ukraine (UAH 60.8 million of previously unused funds were returned on  21 December 2025)
  • over UAH 233 million for the State Special Transport Service
  • over UAH 784.1 million for the Security Service of Ukraine
  • over UAH 286.9 million for the needs of military units
  • over UAH 1,491 million for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine
  • over UAH 69,390 million for the  Defence Procurement Agency (UAH 712 million on 1 December 2025, UAH 1,408 million on 5 December 2025, UAH 10,918 million on 9 December 2025, UAH 3,337 million on 11 December 2025, UAH 1,550 million on 12 December 2025, UAH 4,677 million on 16 December 2025, UAH 1,719 million on 22 December 2025, and UAH 1,529 million on 26 December 2025)
  • over UAH 1,081 million for defense activities of the regional military administrations (UAH 119.6 million on 5 December 2025, and UAH 20.2 million on 22 December 2025).
