As of 1 February 2024, the balance in the special fundraising account the NBU opened to support the defense forces on 24 February 2022 makes almost UAH 1.8 billion. Last month, over UAH 259 million was received in the special account.
Nearly UAH 35 billion was received in the special account since russia launched the full-scale war.
Money has been coming in from individuals and businesses of Ukraine and from all over the international community (including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, France, Canada, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, and many other countries).
That includes the equivalent of almost UAH 15.7 billion that has been remitted from abroad in foreign currencies (U.S. Dollars, euros, GB pounds, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, Japanese yen, Swiss francs, Polish zlotys, Australian dollars).
Overall, since the start of the full-scale war, the NBU has allocated almost UAH 33 billion (almost UAH 516 million in January 2024) to meet the needs of the defense, in particular:
- over UAH 1,408 million for the National Guard of Ukraine
- UAH 1,650 million for the National Police of Ukraine
- over UAH 22,739 million for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (including UAH 387.4 million transferred on 10 January 2024 and UAH 112.7 million on 29 January 2023)
- UAH 1,000 million for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine
- over UAH 5,507 million for the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine
- over UAH 156.2 million for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine
- UAH 40.5 million for the NSDC of Ukraine
- over UAH 213 million for the State Special Transport Service (UAH 5.9 million on 30 January 2024)
- over UAH 318.2 million for the Security Service of Ukraine.
In addition, according to the amendments to Resolution No. 472 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 19 April 2022 (which were introduced by CMU Resolution No. 1249 dated 27 November 2023), the NBU is able to directly transfer funds from the special account for the priority needs of military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations operating on the front line, upon their request accompanied by a letter of approval from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
Thus, in January 2024, almost UAH 10 million was transferred for the needs of military units, and since December 2023, more than UAH 215 million has been transferred in total.
